Prime Minister Sali Berisha asked the cabinet members to urgently
include in their schedule the competitiveness indicators that were
published by the World Economic Forum.
The Ministers should then bring propositions that would enable Albania to reach the standards of other developed countries in all fields.
The competitiveness index ranks Albania in the 78th place, or 10 places higher than last year. For Prime Minister Sali Berisha, this is due to the reforms performed during his governing. In some indicators, the report ranks Albania in the first 20 countries, but in others Albania doesn’t have such positive evaluations. And for the Prime Minister, the situation must change, because there are all possibilities for progressing with development.
“There is still a lot of work to be done. It’s not a matter of taking honors. This is made because these are the pillars of development. We have a basic project, and this is ‘Albania, a developed country’. For this, every agency and Ministry should turn into working plans the entire problematic of every respective pillar, and compare it with developed countries. They shouldn’t see countries from the 30th place and below, but only OECD countries”, Berisha declared.
Naturally, the Prime Minister is aware that the prosperity or not of the citizens is a direct responsibility of the government. For expressing this, Berisha asked the cabinet members to look for their problems within themselves, not to the citizens or the opposition.
“We must not forget what Reagan has said ‘Government is the problem’. You have never heard me say that the problem is the opposition, because I have this saying in my mind since the ‘90s, a saying of Ronald Reagan that has helped me to govern not only as majority, but even in opposition. If we keep this in our minds, we guard the sense of realization as a polar star”, Berisha decalred.
