Through the forum “Dialogue for the future of economy”, the Socialist
Party identified the reasons why Berisha’s government is failing the
Albanian economy, and which is the way out that the Socialists are
offering to what they consider an economic crisis.

The economy experts presented some aspects regarding the economic problems of our country.

“The public debt in 2009 was 682 billion ALL, in 2010 755.5 billion ALL, and in 2011 almost 773 billion ALL. In this moment, before the year is over, the debt is 800 billion ALL”, declared the Socialist MP, Mimi Kodheli.

In seven years, this government promised to open hundreds of thousands of jobs. The reality is that they have realized 4000 jobs, and haven’t opened any new one. The budget that the government has mentioned as of very great successes has not reached the level of 2005, when they came in power”, Shkelqim Cani declared.

“Albania has great oil reserves in Kucova, Patos Morinza, Caker, Grorisht and Ballsh, which mount up to 7.5 billion oil barrels and that with the current price go up to 4 billion USD. Due to the bad decision making of PM Berisha, the state has resigned form the fuels. They have removed to the Albanians the rights for the oil and gas resources, and are giving them to the private sector”, declared the Socialist MP Erjon Brace.

Edi Rama spoke about the vision of the Socialist Party for the rebirth of the ruined and failed economy, as he described it. Rama illustrated this with the failure of the sale of four hydropower plants. Rama declared that Albpetrol risks will be the wealth of a few individuals for their entire life.

“This is not a choice between two people and two parties, but a choice between two different futures, a choice between two different paths of the future, a choice between two worlds. The Albanians must chose the world they want to live in, where our family will be an integrated part of the European Family, not in letters and formal meetings in Brussels, but in the living standards and the relations of the citizens with the state. Or they have to choose if they want to live in a world of photos of their ancestors, with the partners, friends of homologues around the world, of declarations and pronunciations for progress, while they will be unable to turn their world and not be able to breathe when they think that they must reach the end of the month. This is the choice that the Albanians must do”, Rama declared.
