“Berisha is invading institutions”

The Socialist MP, Taulant Balla, listed the cases when the SP considers that people close to the government are holding their grip to independent institutions, now with the blessing of President Bujar Nishani.

“Nishani confirmed what everybody expected, that he is nothing more but a puppet commanded by Sali Berisha, turning the Presidency into a second hand ministry of this government. The replacement of the Secret Service Director with Visho Ajazi, without consulting the international partner services; the appointment of Elvis Cefa as Vice Chairman of the High Council of Justice, were followed yesterday by the appointment of Ylli Zela as Chief of the Military Police. How is it possible that a man like Ylli Zela, who resigned as Director of the Military Secret Service after allegations that connected him with international arm traffic and of illegal surveillance on the opposition and foreign diplomats, is appointed by PM Berisha, President Nishani and Defense Minister Imami in this important position of the Albanian army? Allow me to remind you that the wife of Ylli Zela held shares in a arm dealing company, together with a Serbian and another Polish citizen,  by clearly violating the conflict of interest law”, Balla declared.

Balla reiterated the opposition’s accusations for illegal recordings by the Secret Service on account of the Prime Minister.

“Berisha, Imami and Ylli Zyla established a spying office at the Defense Ministry. I am asking the Prime Minister to publicly answer for Ylli Zyla and his arm traffic affairs, which Berisha and his son know very well. I am asking Sali Berisha to answer to the public about his orders for buying and using the surveillance appliances at the Defense Ministry. Even this appointment, made in these conditions, is an escalation of the government’s corruption. Your time is running out. Taking under control a series of independent institutions with the help of President Nishani, means that Berisha’s time is running out”, the Socialist MP.
