Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, invited the Socialist leader,
Edi Rama, to allow the MPs of his party to vote on August sixth and
lift the immunity of high rank officials in Albania, since this is a law
that’s a benefit for everyone.
“Lifting the immunity is a major goal and is opposed only by those who do not accept to be equal to the citizens”, Berisha declared.
Berisha added that the majority has made all possible concessions to the opposition for them to vote the lifting or limitation of the high rank officials’ immunity.
“Rama is not willing to vote the immunity lifting, and goes from one absurd pretext to another. I want to explain to the citizens that this majority has given Rama every possible concession so that they can vote on August sixth. Rama has asked the lifting of the immunity for the last seven years, and we accepted”, Berisha underlined.
Rama’s reaction on Twitter
“Berisha swims in a sea of lies and complains that he is not able to do his job because of the opposition. It’s not his fault. He’s just a Prime Minister. The opposition doesn’t allow him to work. Poor PM, that has an opposition that doesn’t allow him to fight war and corruption, to create new jobs and integrate Albania in the EU. It’s not his fault. It’s not up to him. But the things that are up to him, such as stealing and insulting, he does them better than any one. He swims in them and doesn’t get old”, Rama declared.
Topalli: Ready to summon the Conference of Chairmen
The Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, declared that right after the August sixth session for the immunity she is ready to summon the Conference of Chairmen and approve the action plan for the Socialist Party initiative on other Constitutional amends.
During a joint press release with her Jordanian homologue, Topalli declared that this initiative fulfills the formal-legal conditions. It has entered the procedure because it has been publicly announced in the plenary sessions and if the opposition will not be ready, she will summon the Conference of Chairmen since August seventh.
But before this, according to Topalli, the opposition must prove with acts that they are against the immunity about which the Albanian politics has been speaking in the last nine years without actually doing something.
Topalli declared that the Socialist Party must show with vote on August sixth that they support the initiative for limiting immunity, by considering it as a shelter for corruption.
