Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future During a meeting with the Youth Right Center of Balkan, organized by the
Youth Forum of the Albanian Democratic Party, PM Sali Berisha declared
that for as long that he will be in politics, the youth will be the
first that he will support and promote.
Berisha told the young members of the forum that he had a major reason for doing this.
“I want to assure you that if you see the political map of Europe, there will be no leader who owes more to youth than Sali Berisha. The truth is that if I am still in politics, since the early 90s, is because of the support that I have received from the youth. With their support I returned to power in 2005 and won the elections of 2009. When British newspaper “The Economist” analyzed the elections in Albania, it wrote that the rival of Mr. Berisha, who is 20 years younger, has 17% less support from the youth than Berisha. Why this support? Because I believe that this country will progress by the youth and for the youth”, Berisha declared.
The Albanian PM told the Balkan youth that during these years he has made a lot to promote youth in politics, but the biggest step in helping them was the implementation of open-doors universities, an area in which they are working to improve the education quality. The Head of the Albanian government underlined the fact that the major program of Albania is its EU integration, and expressed his optimism that with the opposition’s cooperation in Parliament, the reforms will progress and Albania will deserve the EU candidate status.
