Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, went against the IMF
declarations that foresaw an economic growth of 0.5% for Albanian this
year.
Berisha declared that IMF always changes its predictions after it regulates the numbers, and the Albanian government predicts an economic growth of 3%.
“It’s the IMF’s nature to see the glass half empty. The truth is that all their predictions for Albania’s economic growth have been changed after they have seen the results. This is their platform, but their evaluations were objective and realist nevertheless. IMF is one of Albania’s main partners”, Berisha declared.
The Council of Ministers approved the sale of Albpetrol at the Vetro Energy. The Prime MInister declared that the government’s revenues from the highest bid (850 million EUR) will be used for increasing the well being of every Albanian by reconstructing schools and roads.
Berisha added that more than 70% of the schools in Albania have been reconstructed and this process will not stop. He accused the opposition leader, Edi Rama, that he left Tirana education in a very alarming situation.
“He has left Tirana’s students in very bad conditions. I wanted to visit the school of my nieces, but their classrooms had 40 students because the Mayor was unable to find lands to build schools, because he was saving the land for the friends of his party, the “Fidels” of his party (referring to Fidel Ylli, Socialist MP). I congratulate the Municipality for the work that is doing now. They have opened the tenders for the construction of 10 schools, because the situation is urgent. This man is allergic to education”, Berisha declared.
Another Council of Minister’s decision was the VAT removal for machineries. Berisha declared that this is an important measure for easing the business climate. This measure, according to him, is taken after secure information suggested that the foreign investors are interested to bring their activity in Albania, as the most liberal country for businesses.
