Berisha: Funds for social business

Prime Minister Berisha declared that this decision is part of the schemes made by Mohamed Yusuf, who received a Nobel Prize for his ideas to reduce poverty and unemployment.

Berisha declared that the social business fund will be financed by the government, and businesses will be able to participate. This opportunity will be created by a new law, in which the government will propose for the dividend tax to be distributed to shareholders, with the business giving it to the social business fund.

“The professor said it well. Banks give to those who have money. This system gives loans to those who do not have. Our next decision will be to pass the dividend tax to businesses who want it, because we cannot impose it. This is another good step, because the tax problems get simpler in the collection and distribution procedure. This balance will define your efforts for a better life, will define how you will turn this revenue in well-being”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister was also enthusiastic when he presented a study of the Harvard University, in which three of the world’s best economists suggest flat tax, and not progressive tax, as the best way to overcome the economic crisis.

“In their study for the optimal tax – because there is nothing more important now than finding the optimal tax – they reached the conclusion that the flat tax is the closest to optimal. For them it is very important to remove taxes for machineries, what we did three months earlier”, Berisha underlined.

Berisha added that his government is on the right track, and he mentioned the Boston group analysis that ranked Albania fourth in the world for turning the economic growth into well-being for its citizens.

“I understand that this irritates Mr.Rama, but the truth must be accepted. What this study proves is that the progressive tax is dangerous. According to the study, this tax only seems like it’s reaching social equality, but the truth is that it deepens inequality even more, hence this principle should be forgotten”, Berisha declared.
