Berisha asks third mandate

On the 22nd anniversary of the Democratic Party foundation in Berat,
Prime Minister Sali Berisha appealed the Albanian citizens to join the
Democratic Party program to realize the EU integration of our country,
despite the difficulties.

Berisha declared that the Albanians will answer to the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, who has put his personal needs before the country.

“From the thousands year old town of Berat, I will tell Edi Rama that he can build apartment building by violating laws, and ruin the parks of his neighbours, but he will never be able to block the integration path for the Albanians, the path towards Europe”, Berisha declared.

The rest of the speech focused on the economy, which seems to be the keyword for the next electoral campaign.

“Certainly, we have had and we will have economic difficulties, because we started this path as the third poorest country in the planet. Today we are a middle-income country and in seven years we were able to double our national revenues. In these years of deep crisis, we were able to resist and not have one single day of recession.  Not because we had any giant economy, we have a small economy, but we resisted to the crisis because we invested every single penny that we received from taxes”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister mentioned not only the strong points of his government, but also the problems faced during these two mandates. This seems to be the spirit that will follow the electoral campaign.

“We don’t deny our difficulties. We don’t deny our weaknesses and problems, but we have shown the biggest determination. Albania has corruption, but fight against corruption is the key of all successes. Without this fight we would have been unable to collect 9.2 billion USD more from taxes”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister added that the Democratic Party will not remove small business tax, as reported by the Socialist leader, because that would destroy the fiscal system in Albania. Saying that the Democratic Party’s program has the lowest taxes, Berisha considered it as the best solution for the Albanian economy and promised that the next four years will see doubled public investments.

Rama reacts after Berisha’s declaration

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, reacted after the Prime Minister’s declaration in Berat. Rama wrote on twitter: “What self-denial do you need to vote a Prime Minister who says that Albania is fourth in the world, with Switzerland and Brazil.  Who votes him is kidding one’s self”.
