Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future During his visit in Paris, as guest of honor of the French government,
for discussing about the economic challenges of 2012 and the Albanian
economic model, the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, expressed his
appreciation that the world’s main metropolises and financial
institutions consider Albania’s economic model as successful.
According to Berisha, this model has increased the country’s revenues with 7 billion USD in less than six years; has guaranteed the economic growth; has doubled the exports in the last two years while the foreign investments have increased with 316%.
“This model, based on the economic freedom, low taxes, small administration, improvement of the business climate and decreasing bureaucratic obstacles, was considered here and is considered everywhere, as it was underlined yesterday, as a successful model”, Berisha declared.
An important part of the discussion in Paris was the basic direction that the economies should take given the current situation. Two main directions are the renewable energy and technology.
“Compared with the ideas and viewpoints that were protected here, I found that the Albanian economic model is in full accordance with these new directions, predictions and visions of the economic progress and Albania’s transformation into a developed country”, Berisha declared.
By considering corruption as the origin of all bad happenings in a free country, the Prime Minister declared that only the constant war against this phenomenon could consolidate the human rights, could fight poverty and improve the business climate.
As for the public sector, PM Berisha declared that transparency should be implemented step by step through the digital procedures that, according to him, might be one of the most efficient instruments against corruption.
While presenting the economic model followed by his government, Berisha expressed his ambition that Albania could also compete with countries like China, the second economy in the world.
