Prime Minister Berisha’s last meeting of this year with the cabinet
members and advisers was fully dedicated to the economy in our country,
which, according to the data quoted by the Prime Minister, it hasn’t
fallen in recession and has a stable positive economic growth, despite
the European and worldwide economic crisis.

The Prime Minister focused on the report of a group from Boston, who have analyzed 51 development indicators for 140 countries in the world. Their evaluation is based on how much the national assets and the economic growth has affected the well-being of the citizens and the stable development of a country.

The data for Albania were realized in the last five years, which coincides with the time when the crisis started worldwide.

“This group in Boston finds that Albania is ranked 19th for the way how its assets are used on behalf of its citizens. This finds Albania not only oriented in a stable economic growth, but also as one of the best four countries in the world that have turned the economic growth in well-being for its citizens. We can say that our efforts to turn the assets of our country in the citizens’ best interest is a great success of ours”, Berisha declared.

According to Berisha, what has affected this good position is also the wage and pension increase, the efficient investments in road infrastructure and other public services.

The Prime Minister believes that without the reforms and decisions of his government, Albania could have been involved in the worst scenario of the world crisis, such as the decreased wages and pensions and an increased unemployment.

“I am aware that Albania has a few citizens that live in poverty, attacked by diseases and who live in misery. But the truth is that there’s nothing more hopeful for these citizens and the Albanian society than this development. Only a few years ago it could not be imagined that we would be listed in the top countries by economic growth and usage of assets on behalf of its citizens”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister added that this will be the only goal of the future electoral program of the Democratic Party in the elections of June, when he said that the Albanians will bring down the wall of blockage and vote their well-being.
