“Berisha, administrative coup d’etat”

The former US Ambassador to Albania, John L. Withers II, gave an
interview for “Shqip” newspaper, commenting about the current situation
in Albania without softening his speech with diplomacy, as a decisive
point for the future of the country.

“On June 23rd Albania will decide if they will follow democracy or dictatorship. Berisha carried out an administrative coup d’etat by replacing the Central Election Commission member, and the Albanians should guarantee free and honest elections on June 23rd, more than the international observers”.

The election manipulation is a real concern, according to the Ambassador, and Berisha has appointed his loyal foxes as guards of the electoral henhouse.

The interview will be published on two editions of “Shqip”, this Wednesday and this Thursday on 17 and 18 April.

Withers spent some weeks preparing for the answers, and many things changed in the meanwhile, including the creation of the Rama-Meta alliance, and the replacement of the CEC member.

Although retired, Withers is well informed about the main political developments in Albania.
