At Belsh, one of the most picturesque areas of Dumre, the Prime Minister Sali Berisha announced the candidate for Mayor, Asqeri Kuqja, promising to finance his plan for the touristic development of this area.
According to the Prime Minister, the construction of the highway Tirana-Elbasan will have a vital effect on their production growth and sale in bigger markets.
For the first time during this campaign, the Prime Minister mentioned the country’s poverty. But referring to the figures of the World Bank, Mr. Berisha said that in the recent five years, poverty has decreased with 33%.
“Albanian unemployment has decreased. There is still unemployment, but we are determined to do everything we can in cooperation with your local executives for improving your employment. Our grocery shops have still families that buy food by delaying the payment, but they are only 1.4% of the population, from 4.3% that was in 2005. I am here today to promise you that this year and the next one will be the years that will bring every Albanian family out of misery. This is what we offer. This is the way that enabled us the NATO membership. This is the way that enabled us to sign the Stabilization Association Agreement with the EU. This is the way that earned the visa lift in all Europe, the way on which we safely walk towards Europe”, Berisha said.
According to the Prime Minister Berisha, the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, is not showing any concrete project to the Albanians for the improvement of their life, but he keeps proposing the only way, which Berisha called as the way of denying everything that the Albanians have achieved.
“The Socialist leader started this campaign under the motto “it is Berisha’s fault”. I declared that the tunnel and the highway are my historical faults. Now he keeps denying everything that you have achieved. In want to tell Mr. Rama that in this Albania, during these years, things have changed more than in any other country. You are completely mistaken if you try to deny the successes of these people, only because of your relation towards this government. Surely, the government has its role, but the foundations of these successes are its citizens, their hard work and sweat. This is why I invite you to unite with our alternative for the citizen. In our house, in the alternative for the citizen, there is room for everyone”, Berisha said.
