After meeting the Albanian Minister of Interior, the Belgian Secretary
of State for Asylum and Immigration, Teo Franken, met with the Shkoder
Prefecture leaders.
The Belgian official said his visit in Shkoder was due to the fact that 95% of the Albanian asylum seekers in Belgium come from Shkoder.
“We have 500 cases of asulum seekers from Albania, all from Shkoder. This makes the situation even more concerning. Belgium is not a country where everyone can take anything”, Teo Franken declared.
The Belgian Secretary said that the new rules are that those who are rejected asylum in Belgium will not be allowed in any other Schengen country for at least three years.
The visa regime lift has created spaces for fraudulent people to take advantage and promise asylum to citizens who are ready to pay 500 EUR in exchange.
This phenomenon was seen in Germany, Belgium and Sweden. Diplomats of these countries say that after the asylum is over, citizens will be returned with penalties.
