Before the arrival of Pope Francis

Everything is ready at the “Mother Theresa” airport in Tirana for the
arrival of Pope Francis, while the VIP room has been reconstructed in a
record time.

The Pope’s airplane will arrive at 09:00. The Director of the Communication Office at the Prime Ministry, Endri Fuga, gives more details:

“The Holy Father will be received in Rinas by Prime Minister Rama, the Foreign Minister Bushati, Minister Kumbaro and representatives of the Nunciature and the Catholic Church. The Prime Minister and the Holy Father will enter the Marubi Exhibition, where they will have a discussion meeting. This meeting might last 15 minutes, and then the Holy Father and his delegation will leave to Tirana, the Presidential Palace”, Fuga declared for Top Channel.

Every hour and every meeting will be in function of this visit. The roads where the Pope will pass have newly planted trees on both sides. The Qafe Kashari Hill is turning into a little park.

Workers are trying to create more space at Tirana’s main boulevard, so that the devotees can gather and follow the holy mass.

“We have placed large screens and speakers along the boulevard, so that everyone can follow the mass closely and welcome the Holy Father during the walk.

500 pelegrins are expected to be present tomorrow on Tirana’s main boulevard.

Kumbaro: The organization of such an important visit is not easy

The Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, also chairwoman of the State Commission for this visit, declared that it is not easy to organize a visit of these proportions, but the mobilization made it possible for the preparations to incarnate the two reasons why the Pope chose Albania.

“This powerful mobilization incarnates the two messages of the Pope for his visit in Albania, in memory of the sufferings of this people, which has been deprived of the freedom to faith for 40 years, and that lives today a peaceful religious diversity, giving an excellent example on how we can be together even if we are different. I thank the Tirana Municipality for the cooperation and the communication for the country’s interest, by showing that Albania has the potential to agree even between different camps”, Kumbaro declared.
