Beach pollution remains a problem in Durres

The Durres coastline leads the list of polluted beaches for several
years now. This year there have been not studies and analyzes yet by the
experts of the Public Health Institution, and there have also been
long-term investments for the sewage and aqueduct canalizations, so that
the private businesses will not dump their sewage waters into the sea.

The Public Health Institution says that they have no data this year due to a lack of funds. But according to the last year’s report, the most polluted beaches due to high microbiological charges in water are those of Durers and Kavaja.

The biggest pollution, according to the environmental report, is in Currila, Zhiron, Shkembi i Kavajes and Plepa, where the results are alarming.

But this ugly panorama is not only for Durres and Kavaja. Recent PHI reports show that the Plazhi i Ri area in Skele, Vlore is also very dangerous.

As regards the northwestern beaches of Shengjin and Velipoja, the waters are within the standards. As for the south, the specialists recommend the beaches behind the Vlore tunnel, such as Radhima, Orikum, Dhermi, Himara and Borsh.
