The Deputy Minister of Agriculture in Skopje, Macedonia, Lupco
Nikolovski, declared that cucumbers coming from Albania, imported from
Lushnje, contain twice the level of allowed pesticides.
“We have noted concentrates of the active substance ‘Metalaxyl’ which is poisonous”, Nikolovski declared.
Nikolovski was appointed by the opposition party, LSDM, and says that this case proves that state institutions in Macedonia don’t function properly.
He promised that he will keep informing the citizens about whoever allowed these poisonous vegetable in the Macedonian market.
The Skopje Agency for Food and Veterinary, which inspects imported products in Macedonia, has not commented yet.
