The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, took advantage of the
Brussels meeting for electing Joseph Daul as the leader of the European
Popular Party to lobby with the member countries about the candidate
status in December.
Basha said that by asking something that it deserves, the Democratic Party is on the same time ready to report and not accept anything that damages the democratic standards.
“The Democratic Party has raised its voice through institutions, but also through a popular way, as the protest in Tirana showed. Today we have a wide support of the European Popular Party, and of other right parties with which we are coordinating a strong action, to stop this revenge against the rule of law and bring to justice those who dared build a criminal network that damaged the Albanian democracy”, Basha declared.
As regards the chemical weapons, Basha related the government’s lack of transparency with the purchased vote, a phenomenon that according to Basha avoids accountability with citizens.
“It’s a lack of transparency and accountability, a lack of responsibility to the Albanian citizens. He allows this luxury to himself because he thinks that when he will face the Albanian citizen, he will be able to buy their votes. We saw it very clearly in Korce. But the opposition is determined to become an unsurpassable barrier, together with the Albanian citizens, to stop abuses, arrogance and lack of transparency”, Basha declared.
