Basha, one year as Mayor

One year after Lulzim Basha first entered the Tirana Municipality as the
new Mayor, the Tirana citizens have reminded his electoral promises
during the campaign, and that according to them have not been kept.

“The citizens have not received the property titles, and Basha’s office has closed the doors faster than he opened them. Basha was unable to do anything for the city. Tirana has become the marketplace for his friends and clients. The silence for the massacre at the National Park, the lack of transparency, the lack of the project, the lack of the construction permit… all these are shocking evidence of this destructive barbarity. Tirana might not be the city of citizens anymore, and might become a hostage of the government’s clientelle conflicts. We appeal the Mayor to return the city to the community”, Dalipi declared.

One of Basha’s promise is the Student’s Card, which offered facilities for the students and which is expected to be ready in the next academic year.

Basha, new promises

But after one year, the Mayor Lulzim Basha promises that the citizens will have their property titles within this year, and until now the Municipality has given only usage permits.

“We have given usage permits to 24.000 thousands citizens, and we will not stop until everyone will have their property titles. In this framework, the biggest promise that was kept is the completion of the Tirana Urban Plan. With the EBRD we are finalizing the concession process for the new multimodal passenger terminal in the entrance of Tirana. The Big Ring Road is an important and strategic work that was foreseen in the Urban Plan, and it is under construction. In cooperation with the private sector, we have given the concessionary permits and we are waiting to start the construction works for the first underground parking in the Italia square. As regards the tram, the Municipality has contacted and has started the process for finding the financing model”, Basha declared.

Basha promised loans for small businesses and to double the green areas within 2013. He promised to reconstruct the Lana riverbed and other public transport projects, the mural cemetery, the reconstruction of 47 roads and 15 schools, the establishment of the Urban Traffic Control Center, etc.
