During the official announcement of his candidacy as Tirana’s Mayor, Lulëzim Basha promised to the citizens gathered in the “Asllan Rusi” sport centre that he will bring them the much awaited changement.

Basha promised a governing different to his rival’s, who according to Basha has neglected this institution due to personal interests.

“Our citizens expect from us more than indignation cries. Today is the time to leave this show behind once and for all. It’s time to start working to transform Tirana into a prime city and its citizens into prime citizens.” Basha declared.

The former Interior Minister and at the same time one of the main Democratic Party figures, promised that he will give a solution to all of the city’s problems as Mayor.

“What can a Mayor do against unemployment and price increase, if he doesn’t face the problem? Nothing! This is what we heard last night from the actual Mayor, who said that has more important matters to deal with, because he aims the Prime Minister’s chair. Altogether, with love for each other, we will be able to realize our hopes and dreams for this city.” Basha declared.

The democratic candidate announced his priorities in case he will be elected as Tirana’s first citizen, with employment and business incentives being in the centre of the attention. Basha promised that he will fight unfair competition, that he will create 30.000 new jobs in the first two years, by developing and attracting business and also by lowering business taxes.

Another priority will be education. Basha promised to eliminate two-shifts teaching in schools and also to secure free internet access for students not only in schools, but all over the city’s territory.

Infrastructure investments were not to be left behind, which, according to Basha, will be massive and will solve the traffic issue in Tirana.

Basha promised to realize his Outer Ring Road and he also promised another big project, a tram line, which he considers as a cheap and qualitative solution.

The Democratic Party candidate spoke on his future relations with the central government in case he will be elected.

“Many people ask about my future relations with the central government. This is the answer: I will have close relations with the central government, as long as our common goal will be Tirana’s best interest. I will never hesitate to contradict the central government if Tirana’s interest will be put into question. I will cooperate with the central government for this city”, Basha added.
