Basha meets Glover: “Electoral reform requires political will”

Basha thanked Glover for her work and for the realistic report of the June 21 elections. He said it had a realistic result that proved the power abuse with the government’s illegal pressure.

Basha underlined that all OSCE standard violations identified by the report and the steps back compared to the past elections were a direct product of the lack of good will by the majority.

Basha underlined the urgent need to start an electoral reform through consensus, but he underlined that it will not be possible without the political will to hold real democratic elections.

Basha valued the ODIHR assistance as necessary for starting a reform that would guarantee a democratic process in Albania. He invited ODIHR to contribute actively with this process.

Glover expressed her readiness to contribute through electoral standard processes in Albania.
