Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The former Interior Minister, Lulzim Basha, spoke for the first time
about the January 21st events, after the arrival of the FBI forensic
reports.
In an interview for the VOA, from Washington, where he is attending a visit, Basha declared that it is a tragic event that should be investigated from all views.
“It is a tragic event that has taken the lives of four innocent citizens. All these should be part of an all inclusive investigation”, Basha declared.
According to him, the January 21st event should not be used for political attacks, but it should encourage the political parties to cooperate for the European future of the country.
“The protagonists of these events should take their responsibilities regarding the event and the citizens, in order to fulfill the 12 EU criteria”, Basha underlined.
“Let us place the citizens’ interests over the partial ones and cooperate. This was also asked by Brussels and Washington during my visit here”, he added.
According to him, people showed in the local elections that they are fed up with the politics of boycott and falsities, and that they need a new politics.
“Albania’s European way means a European behavior for all political actors. This starts with the presence of the actors of the game. No personal motivation should interfere in the rule of law”, Basha added.
