The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, spoke before the hearing session at the with the Foreign Committee of the German parliament, regarding the progress-report of the European Commission.
“The hearing session will start after a few minutes. The concerns of the CDU-CSU group in this commission are about the fight against drugs and corruption. They are about the judiciary reform, and their stance is skeptic about opening the accession negotiations. It is my difficult task to convince this commission that on one hand, the real problems of Albania do exist, and for this they have reports from law-enforcing agencies from Europe and Germany. But on the other hand, these problems can be fought by opening the accession negotiations. The united opposition is here to demand opening the accession negotiations as an additional pressuring and monitoring tool for intensifying the fight against organized crime and corruption, in order to have a real implementation of the Judicial Reform, not captured by politics”, Basha said.
