Bank of Albania asked politics to find consensus for a necessary package
of reforms, whose delay, the Bank says, is slowing down the economic
growth and putting the finances into danger. The first reform is related
with some amends of the Civil Procedure Code.

“We are talking about a group of propositions that are valued as necessary, in order to stabilize the banking system, to guarantee the population’s deposits and revive the economy. I have sent a letter to the leaders of the main parties and the Chairmen of the concerning Parliamentary commissions regarding this very important issue of the banking system and the Albanian economy in general”, the Governor declared.

The second intervention that has been proposed is to keep the public debt under control. Since 2008 it has been growing unstoppably.

“To find a political consensus that will enable the implementation of a fiscal rule in order to preserve the long-term stability of the public finances and the trust of investors in the Albanian economy”, Fullani declared.

For the first time the Cetnral Bank has underlined the reforms of the pension scheme. The government explained the reasons why this measure is necessary.

“The deficit that was created is growing and could damage many fiscal and financial parameters in the future. This reform should open way to the development of backward segments of the financial system, such as the funds of private pensions and insurances”, Fullani declared.
