Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The Parliamentary Commission of Economy accepted the two other
candidacies proposed by the Parliament for the members of the
Supervisory Board of Bank of Albania.
Dhori Kule, the actual rector of the Tirana University was the candidacy offered by the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, and after him was voted Ela Golemi, proposed by the Socialist Movement for Integration.
After these two approvals there is another place in the Supervisory Council of the Central Bank, which will be proposed by the opposition. The Socialist Party announced that their candidacy will be that of the current MP, Ermelinda Meksi, former Minister of Economy and Integration.
Ermelinda Meksi is one of the main figures of the Socialist Party, with a rich political career in governing, holding five ministerial posts as Minister of Integration in the “Nano” government.
If elected by the Parliament, Mrs. Meksi will leave the MP mandate and will be replaced by the son of the former Socialist MP, Fatmir Xhindi, who was killed in 2009.
According to the law, all members of the Supervisory Board for the Bank of Albania are elected by the Parliament. 5 members are proposed by the Parliament, 3 by the Council of Ministers, 1 from the Supervisory Board. The Albanian President nominates the Bank of Albania Governor, based on the proposition of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers. The vice governors are elected by the Supervisory Board of Bank of Albania.
