Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The General Secretary of the UN, Ban Ki Mon, met the Kosovo delegation
in New York and expressed his support for the process of establishing
law and order in the entire territory of Kosovo, and also asked for the
dialogue with Serbia to continue.
The delegation of Kosovo, consisting of the President Atifete Jahjaga, Prime Minister Thaci and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, met this Sunday at New York with the General Secretary of the UN, Ban Ki Mun, with whom they talked about the recent developments after the establishment of Customs and Police agents in the northern border checkpoint.
The delegation asked Ban Ki Mun to support the legitimate Kosovo institutions for extending the law and order in north, and also asked to pressure Serbia for giving up from supporting the parallel structures.
Ban Ki Mun supported the process for establishing law and order in the entire territory of Kosovo, and asked them to preserve calm and be constructive with the continuance of the dialogue with Belgrade for technical matters, which is being mediated by the European Union. The Kosovo delegation traveled yesterday to USA, where they are holding a series of bilateral meetings with several world leaders, in the autumn session of the UN General Assembly.
RTK says that President Jahjaga declared that the operation that Kosovo Police held in cooperation with KFOR and EULEX, for implementing the agreement of the Customs Stamps with Serbia, proves Kosovo’s cooperation with the international community.
Jahjaga declared that the special status for Northern Kosovo would ruin these achievements and would bring division, rather than integration. She declared that Kosovo wants to establish law and order by giving an end to impunity, for the sole purpose of bringing economic development and extending the constitutionality for all Albanian citizens that live in the north.
Prime Minister Thaci updated the UN General Secretary, Ban Ki Mon, with the latest event in the Republic of Kosovo. Thaci declared that the government of Kosovo cooperated with the relevant international factors, and in the last two months undertook some actions for establishing law and order even in the northern part of Kosovo. Prime Minister Thaci declared in this meeting that the government is committed to fight crime and other negative phenomena in Kosovo, which unfortunately have been tolerated in the last 12 years in the northern part of the country, says the announcement of the Prime Minister. As regards the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Prime Minister Thaci emphasized that it is vital that the achieved agreements should be respected by Serbia. Kosovo is committed to implement its part of responsibilities that derive from the agreements, and this should also be made by Serbia”.
Jahjaga and Thaci underlined that Kosovo is determined to become UN member, and that this road has no other alternative.
