Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The two MPs that were asked by the Prosecutor General to give up their immunities reacted through a press release for the media.
Balla says that Sali Berisha and Lulzim Basha are the ones who should face court and that the SP is ready to give up the immunities of every MP requested by the Prosecution, but it would be ridiculous to investigate Besnik Bare and not Berisha.
Taulant Balla concludes his declaration by saying: “Investigating me without investigating Lulzim Basha, is ridiculous. We want justice”.
Tom Doshi expressed his readiness to offer himself for the January 21st investigations.
“I will vote for removing my immunity when the request will come in Parliament. I have been in this protest as a Socialist MP and I have showed calmness and peace. Even when the police started hitting the protesters and then killing them, I contributed for calming the things down. Everything that I have done on that day has been filmed and is transparent”, Tom Doshi declared.
Doshi also adds that the Prosecution should find the killers vested in power and who have ordered the murders.
The Socialist MP of Shkoder says:
“When the National Guard Commander kills people with his own hand, there’s no doubt that the order has been given by the Prime Minister. When the evidence is hidden by the Council of Ministers, no one doubts that the order has been given by the Prime Minister. Today was taken a big step for bringing justice for January 21st”, Doshi concluded in the declaration.
Tahiri: Berisha and Basha to be investigated
The vice
leader of the Socialist Parliamentary Group and also SP leader for
Tirana, Saimir Tahiri, reacted after the press release of the Prosecutor
General, Ina Rama. On behalf of the Socialist leader and all other MPs,
Tahiri expressed his readiness to support the Prosecution in the
January 21st investigations, by offering to give up their immunity.
“We
support the January 21st investigation and we are ready to vote and
give up the immunity in order to help finding the truth. The SP leader,
Edi Rama, declares that he is at the Prosecution’s disposal, since he
has no parliamentary immunity. I will also make myself available for the
prosecution. For the January 21st events, none of us has ever had
immunity. We are ready to go to the end with the investigations, and not
only the three colleagues. None of us has done less than the three
colleagues that you mentioned, and none of them has done more than
exerting the constitutional duty of a peaceful demonstration. We are
ready to be investigated until the end”, Tahiri declared.
But for
the Socialist, the request for investigating three MPs, Tom Doshi,
Besnik Baraj and Taulant Balla, is not complete. They say that the
investigation should continue with the ones who ordered the killings of
four innocent people, who the Socialist Party are Sali Berisha and
Lulzim Basha.
“The Albanian opposition accuses Sali Berisha and
Lulzim Basha as direct responsible for using guns against people,
leaving four innocent dead and wounding dozens others. They must be
investigated until the end. They must be proceeded as soon as possible,
Berisha and Basha! Otherwise, the immunity removal request for the three
opposition MPs can seem as a maneuver for creating unacceptable balance
for the investigation. If Berisha and Basha will not be investigated,
the opposition will consider it as a calculation of the Prosecution for
being above the parties, and taking sides. The Prosecution has the
obligation to send the ordainers of these murders to justice. On the
other hand, the court showed that it has become an government instrument
by giving house arrest for the accused. House arrest in Berisha’s
regime means full freedom, full ability to communicate and damage the
January 21st investigations”, Tahiri declared.
