The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, appealed the European authorities
to secure the borders of Albania with Macedonia and Greece, in order to
prevent any illegal passage of refugees blocked in Greece.
The closed borders have put Greece under huge pressure. Thousands of refugees traveling to Northern European countries are stuck without being able to move. Chances are they will start looking for alternative ways.
The German Chancellor showed to be on the same line with the UN General Secretary, Ban Ki Moon, saying that the EU must cooperate with Greece and secure the borders with Macedonia and Albania. The EU-Turkey agenda should also be part of this efforts, Merkel said, or there will be no stability in Greece.
There are 33.000 refugees blocked in Greece, especially in the border with Macedonia, where immigrants are waiting for weeks to pass through the border.
