Snow storms and low temperatures have caused considerable damages in
many European countries. Entire roads and villages were blocked in most
of Balkan by the ice and snow.
Voice of America declared that the storms have obliged the German authorities to cancel a series of flights, blocking many travellers in airports.
The weather is also blocking the purchases for Christmas, especially in northeast, which was covered by snow and where under zero temperatures are expected to continue for the rest of the week. Such heavy snows in Balkan and especially Zagreb were not seen for the last 60 years in the region, and have paralyzed everything.
Six people are reported dead in the region. Elders in Croatia are advised to not leave their houses. The Serbian authorities passed an extreme measure that blocked the traffic to prevent accidents. Belgrade’s zoo animals were sent to warmer premises.
People in Bosnia Herzegovna have complained for increased heart problems. In some areas of Montenegro there have been avalanches, and the situation doesn’t seem to let improve any time soon.
