Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The snowfalls created a real political storm in Parliament, with the SP
accusing the PM of not doing his duty and inform the Parliament about
the situation in the country.
After the session was interrupted by the Speaker with the argument that the opposition had not submitted a request, it started with the same topic, but obviously, with two different stances. The opposition accused the government of lacking efficiency, the government accused the opposition of trying to obtain political gains from the natural disaster.
“With the government refusing to admit the real extent of the crisis, and with the recent events showing a dramatic lack of a functional and efficient, we will present to the Parliament a concrete plan by refusing any kind of political gain and by insisting to offer our cooperation, as the opposition force against the government”, declared the Socialist MP, Erion Brace.
The Democratic Parliamentary Group leader, Astrit Patozi, declared that the Albanian parliament doesn’t approve plans, but laws and decisions that help the isolated persons.
“The opposition should not meddle with the government’s business in critical moments. The people cannot be helped through Twitter and Facebook. The only goal of this plan that has been presented in the Parliament, is to delay the Ministries from helping the residents”, Patozi declared.
The Socialist MP, Erjon Brace, presented in the plenary session the mid-term plan created by the Socialist Party, which aims to help overcoming the current situation and preparing for future possible emergencies.
The plan is extended in three main directions, for helping the isolated residents with special funds, encouraging the recovery of their agricultural economy and giving a special status to the high-risk areas, which must be identified first.
Brace proposed the creation of a fund for easing the damages caused by the bad weather in the isolated areas, mainly in agriculture and farming. They also proposed thes ecuring of food and medicines for the isolated residents; securing the basic food for the livestock for two months and also food for the families that have been damaged by the isolation.
The second direction is the preparation of funds and structures for facing similar situations in the future. The Socialists say that they need a reorganization for the maintenance of the national and local roads; a specific fund for the logistics in emergency zones, in order to reduce the consequences.
The third direction of the plan is the energy. Brace underlined that they need a better planning for energy, and a fund that should be managed by the Energy Regulation Entity.
“The government has allocated funds in other directions, twice bigger funds than the one that was allocated for opening the rural roads, and this is essentially unacceptable. I will use this moment to appeal Father Rrok Mirdita and Father Janullatos, to use the money that the government granted them to help the residents who are facing a tragic emergency today”, Brace declared.
The democrats appealed the opposition to not try and create a parallel government, but to help the isolated residents with concrete steps; not with words, but with acts, and abandon what they called “the hyenas’ policy”.
“Which opposition creates its own emergency headquarters and has a different weather forecast, as if the government, the local administration, the army, the state police and all agencies are a state enemy. This majority can predict with the biggest accuracy the behavior of the Socialist Party every time that Albania will have natural disasters, for as long that they will be led by Edi Rama. We must pray God to not fulfill his evil desires, and also to forgive the opposition that doesn’t know what to do with its power”, Patozi declared.
