Autopsy shows no signs of alcohol in Velipoja accident victims

Medical expert have increased the burden on responsibilities on road authorities in the tragic accident case in Velipoja where 4 people died. Sources from the local morgue in Shkodra said that none of the victims have been in the influence of alcohol and autopsy confirmed that all died because they could not get out of water after their car fell in the Viluni canal.

Thus the main case of the accident remains the raw conditions of the road, lack of lighting and also the fact that the driver was unfamiliar with the route he was traveling.

Head of the Albanian Road Authority told Top Channel that lac of investments in the mentioned road section does not blame his institution because it is not in his jurisdiction, passing maintenance responsibilities down to local authorities, who are yet to pronounce on the incident in a road where 5 people have died in the last 3 months.

Meanwhile the fourth victim has been named. Italian citizen Giovanni Sanguedolce, 36, was traveling with his fiancé Artenisa Perajt, who also died in the accident.
