The level of deposits in Banks during August increased with only 19.7
billion ALL this year, by disappointing the banks, which increase the
advertising funds during summer for luring the emigrants with higher
offers than usually, according to “Shqip”
Albania’s bank data indicate that in August 2010, the deposits increased with 26.6 billion ALL, and in August 2009 with 25.3 billion ALL. August is the best month for the Albanian banks, but this year there were weaker results.
The main cause, according to bank experts, might be the fact that the deposits increased more than usually in the first months of the year.
The fast growth of the deposits in the first semester of 2011 is owed partly to the Greek crisis and the emigrants fear from the fate of Greek banks, making them to deposit their savings in Albanian banks.
August showed a slow growth even for the mortgage portfolio in banks, while the indicator of bad loans has not been published yet.
