Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Journalists’ Union reacted against the actions taken by the Albanian
judiciary and bailiff officers in Top Channel’s premises.
Alexander Cipa, head of this union, considers the surrounding of the studios with police as psychological and physical violence against journalists.
“We condemn the surrounding of a national TV station by police forces and bailiffs. This reflects psychological violence against journalists and the audience”, Cipa declared.
Being on the verge of the elections, Cipa considers these actions as political stances held against the media.
“This decision is being executed exactly on a moment that cannot exclude the political effect on the Albanian media. The Union of Journalists appeals lawmakers and law enforcers to give up from hi decision. They must leave time to the managers of this TV Station to make the move on time”, Cipa declared.
According to the Union of Journalists, in any other country there would be strong reactions from media associations if programs with a high audience risk broadcasting due to political issues.
“The union of journalists appeals the Albanian justice to not make selective actions. The Union of Journalists asks the authorities to stop this action that is affecting one of the most important programs in the Albanian audience inside Albanian and abroad”, Cipa declared.
