The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, expressed his condolences to the Greek counterpart about the Atika tragedy, where wildfires have taken the lives of at least 74 persons.
“We are watching the turn of events very closely. I was shocked by the loss of lives and I would like to express my sincere condolences to the relatives of the victims. I pray that there will be no other victims in people and that the wildfires are soon taken under control by the authorities. I guarantee you that in these difficult moments, I and the people of Albania are praying for the citizens of Athens”, Meta said.
