Asylum seekers, Municipal leaders sued

After the State Police accused the Koplik Mayor and the head of the
Postrribe Commune for power abuse, after they released certifications
that proved that the receiver was a blood feud victim, and these
documents were later used for demanding asylum in Belgium, the two local
administrators have defended themselves by saying for Top Channel that
the certifications they have released are not fake.

Koplik Mayor declared that they have released certifications for four families that are blood feud victims in Koplik and that those documents are not for asylum.

“Koplik Municipality has released decisions that are registered. The documents show that there are families that really have blood feud problems. There are 3-4 families that are known for this problem, but the Municipality and other structures in Koplik have not released these documents for political asylum”, declared Ramadan Lika, Mayor of Koplik.

The head of Postribe commune declared that he has trusted the reeves for these certifications, but he says that these should not be considered state documents, since they are not registered.

“These certifications have been released by the head of the Commune, while the reeve only recycles his decisions. No certification has ever been released by the commune according the laws. If there are, they have come from the village reeve, but it has no legal value”, underlined the Mayor of Postribe, Faz Shabaj.

The Police have sued the local administrators because the certifications have been given to people who have no blood feud problems, and who have used them only for receiving political asylum in Belgium. A few days earlier, the General Director of the Emigration of the Belgian Kingdom visited Albania and for raising the alarm that citizens from Northern Albania were using falsified documents to apply for political asylum.
