Three years after construction, the Ashta hydropower plant started producing energy in full capacity.
After several tests, the Ministry of Economy officially authorized the full operation of this HPP, which will produce 240 million KWh annually.
Ashta is the first HPP built after the communist regime.
The most recently built HPP is that of Koman, 1986, at the Drin Cascade. Ashta was built by two Austrian companies, Verbund and Evn. The cost was 200 million EUR, and is expected to produce energy for 100.000 Albanian families.
