Army blocks Gjader airfield

The Army has surrounded the Gajder airfield with concrete blocks, making it unusable for any type of airplane.

This action was taken after a series of accusations that the airfield was used by airplanes that carry narcotics. The operation will continue until this Tuesday, while the operations will be supervised by the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

Besides placing the concrete blocks, the army has also demolished some illegal constructions made by the residents.

Although it is not used for anything, Gjadri is a property of the Albanian army. The army has used it only during civilian emergencies created by floods.

Opposition Parliament Members launched accusations that small airplanes had taken off this airfield illegally, but the accusations were rejected by the Ministry of Defense.

The Democratic Party reacted after this operation of the army.

“The concrete in Gjader doesn’t cover the responsibility of the Prime Minister and that of his Ministers in this drug affair. The growth of the drug traffic, as proven by the quantity of drugs seized by our neighbors, cannot be done without the knowledge and implication of our government leaders. The Democratic Party wants the Parliamentary Investigative Committee to start working as soon as possible for finding the truth”, declared Keltis Kruja, Democratic Party Parliament Member.
