Arben Frroku, sentenced by the Albanian justice to life in prison for
the murder of the Chief of Police, Dritan Lamaj, was arrested in
Netherlands.
The voices that he had taken under custody by the Dutch authorities had been circulating for two days. This Thursday arrived the confirmation of the State Police, which reports that Frroku was arrested in Netherlands with a fake identity.
Frroku was found not guilty in April, 2015, by the Court of First Instance, after they rejected the Prosecution’s request to leave Frroku in prison for life.
After being held in detention for 13 months, Frroku left prison while the Prosecution challenged the verdict at the Court of Appeal. But after reviewing the case, the Court of Serious Crimes found Arben Frroku guilty and sentenced him to life in prison.
Frroku had left Albania in the meantime while his lawyer said that the verdict was taken under pressure, and that they would challenge it.
Dritan lamaj, Chief of the Tirana Police, with 20 years of experience, was executed in 2013 while driving his vehicle.
