Relatives of people that have been executed by the communist regime have
appealed the government to accelerate the procedures for identifying
the human remains that were found in the Dajti Mountain.
“We are here for the memory of our dear ones, who deserve the universal right to have a tomb. We need more commitment and dedication with this noble task for the entire nation and these people”, declared Niklin Kurti, nephew of Dom Shtjefen Kurti.
“I keep waiting for an answer by the government for identifying the remains of who I believe that was my father. The member of the firing squad had the good will to tell me everything about his last moments. I am still waiting for the identification”, declared Jovan Plaku, son of Koc Plaku.
“What gathers us here is the memory of the living, more than the memory of the dead. We must know that bitter reality that we have passed. The silence of the living hurts us more”, declared a former political prisoner, Amik Kasoruho.
There are approximately 6000 people who have been executed by the communist regime with a fire squad, and who still don’t have a grave of their own. Some of them were found buried in the Dajti Mountain.
