The Court of Appeals upheld the house arrest measure for Judge Mimoza Margjeka, accused of taking bribes in exchange for mitigating the measures against the detainees. At the exit of the hearing, Margjeka asked to speak to the media but she was denied by the police who were there to accompany her.

Margjeka has made accusations against the state, saying that the decision against her was politically motivated. She has constantly insisted that the state is punishing her for rejecting the mandate of Valbona Sako, former mayor of Durrës emerging from June 30, 2019 elections.

“The Court of Appeals upholds the measure of house arrest. This state can no longer be done. Confront the state, forget those who dare. Someone was beaten, someone was put in jail. Dont touch me. Dont touch me. Do not be afraid, it cannot become a state with monsters, mafiamen and criminals”, said Margjeka during the confrontation.

The judge was arrested on September 9, as in cooperation with a lawyer and a head of department at a University they committed the criminal offense “Active corruption of a judge, prosecutor” after through her husband Arben Cara, received a sum of 6,000 euros, as a bribe.
