“Anti-smoking”, fines and violent reactions

On the first date of the operation against smokers in public spaces, the
task-force reestablished for this purpose has given seven fines after
inspecting 102 subjects.
Despite the warning that there will be no tolerations, there have been other internventions at high rank officials for canceling the fines, while the owners have also been confronted with the inspectors.
“We have no right to pardon fines. We have been called by subjects who complain that their competitors are not respecting the law. We have had interventions from high rank officials”, declared Roland Shuperka, coordinator of the anti-smoking law.
According to Shuperka, the Health Ministry task force will go to Vlore to implement the law in a subject where there have been conflicts. As regards the fine, it is an executive title given with a court order. The subject is obliged to pay it within 10 days on the bank account given with the fine.
“The subject makes the payment within 10 days. If this deadline is passed, the subject will pay interest delays. All fines will be executed by bailiffs”, Shuperka declared.
The action for establishing the anti-smoking law is being implemented on terrain by some inspectors at the Public Health Directory while supported by the task force of the Health Ministry established exactly for this purpose.
