Asked about the issues of reviewing the legal “Anti defamation” package with the argument that will silence the voice of journalists, the head of government Edi Rama described it as “totally the opposite”.
“The law will be passed, but not to silence journalists, but for all those who fall prey to baseless accusations to be able to defend themselves.”
Rama said that the draft law will no longer be submitted to the Venice Commission for review.
Rama also said that the package has already made changes according to OSCE / ODHIR recommendations.
The Prime Minister added that the biggest support for this law has come from business sector.
