Analysts: Berisha depending from Meta

Analysts Henri Cili and Mustafa Nano kept the same stance about the
voting session of the HCJ chairman in Parliament, which they say that
has raised a series of questions against the opposition, regarding Ilir
Meta’s Socialist Movement for Integration.

Çili: A cynical question that I treated in today’s editorial of “Mapo” Magaine is if Meta was going closer to Edi Rama. If he is not going closer to him, this voting shows that the government’s coalition is having fractions, and this raises many questions: how will the behavior of the majority and Prime Minister Berisha change as regards Ilir Meta and the SMI for the Presidential election? If Meta would vote a political figure chosen by Berisha, the SMI’s role as a differenced and plural force within the coalition would have no sense. The second question in this case is about the offers that can be made for the elections of 2013, in the new conditions and circumstances. And finally, what sense will Ilir Meta give to his political force in the new decade, or in a mid-term or long-term future?

While Mustafa Nano declares that the majority is on the brink of collapse, and its existence is completely dependant on Ilir Meta’s political moves.

Nano: It is a big question to which we cannot give a good answer today. There are two opinions. One says that something is broken in an irreparable way between Meta and Berisha. But I don’t think so. I agree with the other opinion which says that the fact that they are getting closer might mean that they are salvaging each other in a short time. It depends on how Meta will move. He gave two messages to Prime Minister Berisha, by giving only one vote: he was the one that had him and saved him, and that he still has him.

Does it mean that the majority is falling to pieces, since three SMI MPs did not vote yesterday?

Cili: There are two types of fallings for the majority. The majority did not fall, because this was not a typical political voting for the governing, but it has a political significance. I would say that it doesn’t matter what Meta’s MPs are voting. What matters is the political stance of the SMI or Ilir Meta, as the only one for supporting this coalition. This is the macro calculation that should be made with Meta’s presence in the coalition. The government could create 71 votes, but the political importance of the SMI presence in the coalition is much bigger, in report of the numbers that they have in their disposal.

Nano: The Majority is not what used to be, in numerical and power terms. This majority is definitely on Ilir Meta’s hands. As a governing majority, it is endangered each day by a similar moment like the one that happened yesterday. It is a majority that stands with 71 votes, including that of Kastriot Islami. The number 71 yesterday was created with Ilir Meta, through a single MP.

Henri Cili declared that the Democratic Party will need the SMI consent for the presidential election. The same opinion is shared by Mustafa Nano, who sees Kastriot Islami’s vote as in favor of every candidate proposed by Berisha.

Çili: He can resolve this by taking some votes from the Socialists or somewhere else. This is not the problem. But politically, it should at least resolve it with the consent of the coaliation partners. Maybe even in a wider are than this, but the political vote of SMI is very important, because we are facing an electoral race in 2013 and this situation should be kept this way or recreated from the beginning.

Nano: The Presidential majority will be up to the SMI. If you ask me for Kastriot Islami, I am sure that he will vote in favor of the candidate chosen by Berisha.
