10 days have passed since the Albanian Parliament decided to turn back for revaluation the list of candidates who will compose the vetting bodies, but no action has been made to verify the applicants who qualified but were missing some parts of the documentations needed.
Top Channel learned that the Ombudsman resisted for some days to take the list from the Parliament until finally accepted and registered all the names on Monday. But both confirmed that no verification process has started and also no vacancies were announced.
The Ombudsman said he needs to archive every document received so far so no complaints can be made but the joint team from his office and that of the Parliament will not begin working together until Friday. This proposition made from the Ombudsman was considered an unnecessary delay by the Parliament and if there will be no further delays, the process will begin on Monday, Top Channel learned.
The process would return then to Parliament on the beginning of April – a very delicate political period – since international observatory bodies need their time too.
