Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The Majority rejected in Parliament the opposition’s request to
establish the inspection Commission for the Ministry of Defence. The
Socialist MPs filed the request so that they could inspect the activity
of the Military Intelligence Service, a structure that hat depends by
the Ministry of Defence and according to the Socialists, they have
illegally registered the conversations of the opposition with the
diplomatic body in Tirana, through an equipment that the SP says that
was bought against the law.
But the Democratic Party at the Comomission of Security objected the request, saying that it is not formulated correctly, and voted against it.
The realization of this request in Parliament comes in a time when the majority itself suggested the opposition to ask for an investigative commission in Parliament to inspect the case, since the Ministry of Defence did not allow a Parliamentary investigation.
Despite this, the opposition voted in favour of the draft-law for the amnesty of the 100th year of independence. However, SP declared that the general amnesty led by the government is also pardoning the defendants of the Gerdec trial, although Justice Minister Halimi excluded all possibilities for such a thing to happen.
