Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The business greeted the postponing of the Fiscal Amnesty deadline, but
explained to the government that this measure is not enough for avoiding
the pre-announced failure of the process.
“We expect the government, the majority or the Parliament to make the necessary amends of the Fiscal Amnesty for what we have asked so far: the amend of clause 22.4, which doesn’t guarantee businesses to become part of the auto declarations. In the contacts that we have had for promoting different businessmen to become subject of the Fiscal Amnesty, we have noted that the main problem is the lack of guarantee and security that this law provides”, declared Nikolin Jaka, head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mr. Jaka, who leads the most powerful chamber of commerce and industry in Albania, that of Tirana, says that the law is repressive in this current form.
“It allows subjects and tax institutions to deepen their repression with the auto declaration form, and this is the most unacceptable thing, not only for the Chamber of Commerce, but also for every businessman that operates in Albania, foreign or Albanian alike”, Jaka declared.
The government announced the fiscal pardon on May 2011, a few days before the local elections. The deadline of this process was to the end of this year, but a few days earlier the government decided to postpone it, leaving more time to those who want to declare real estates.
