Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The EU and OSCE ambassadors visited the city of Fier today, where they
inaugurated the “Plaza Europa” in the city centre, the square that will
hold Europe’s name not only symbolically. The ambassadors said that the
issue with the city council should be resolved for the country’s behalf.
“This debate is for the rule of law. We follow the developments closely, and this is something that should be resolved by both parties. We need a solution for the sake of the city of Fier and the country. I hope that there will be a fast and correct solution. If you ask me what side I will keep, I have always kept the side of the rule of law”, Ambassador Wolfarth declared.
The presence in Fier, the city that gave the name to this political conflict, was not missed by the opposition leader too, Edi Rama.
“Fier was recently connected with Europe, but we are in Fier to bring Europe to this city and the entire country. Europe is not a physical distance, but it’s building it in our country”, Rama declared.
“Europa Plaza” is an iron glove 11 meters high and with a 7 meters diameter, conceived by artist Fate Velaj, an investment of the Fier Municipality for the 100th year of independence.
