On the second day of the NATO Ministerial Meeting, the allied met in the
coalition led by the USA against ISIS, in which were invited the
Foreign Ministers of Balkan too.
Top Channel: Was there any specific request as regards Albania’s contribution, keeping in mind the fact that Rinas is being used by the US and Canadian allies for fuel and food supply? Was there any other specific request?
Ditmir Bushati: Albania is currently contributing through donations that were given to Iraq. Everything was made based on a clear plan of accordance with our strategic partners, mainly with the USA, Italy, the UK and Canada. Albania is one of the countries that has contributed a lot as regards the ammunition, the legislation, the institutional reform and the good work with the leaders of religious communities, for explaining the phenomenon and for using democratic and legal methods for not allowing Balkan and Albania to turn into a territory for foreign fighters.
Bosnia and Kosovo are listed among the most endangered countries for the return of foreign fighters, followed by Macedonia and Albania.
“Kosovo is one of the countries that is noted for its fight against religious extremism. This summer we arrested persons who were part of the wars in Syria and Iraq, and some clergymen in Kosovo. This phenomenon should be seen from the political and social view. In my opinion, there are structures and groups in the Middle East that invest in Kosovo, Albania and the other countries of the region for geopolitical and geostrategical reasons, and the citizens of Kosovo or Albania are sometimes victims of this long-term investment of extremist groups from the Middle East”, declared Enver Hoxhaj, Foreign Minister of Kosovo.
Top Channel: Are the citizens of these countries allowed to enter Kosovo? Can you control their entrance without a visa?
Enver Hoxhaj: No Schengen citizen can enter Kosovo without a visa from our consulate missions.
Top Channel: And from the Middle East?
Enver Hoxhaj: This goes for the Middle East as well.
Confidential sources from NATO declared for Top Channel that the newest Balkan country has had difficulties in controlling the entries from the Middle East, since the visa regime is not applicable for all Arabian countries.
