All fugitives who escaped from the Drenova Prison have been arrested.
The Eduart Lulo and Reiz Haxhiarj were caught by the Greek Police in the
Kostur forests. Gezim Toma was caught this Wednesday night in a forest
close to the border with Albania, after residents alerted the police for
the presence of three armed people.
It was easy for the Greek Special Forces to take him under arrest, since Toma was wounded during a fire exchange with the Greek police. They found traces of the two other fugitives. Eduard Lulo was caught this Thursday morning, hiding in a forest hut. He was in difficult health condition, due to fatigue, bad weather and low temperatures.
Lulo was sent to the Kostur hospital. A few hours later, Reiz Haxhiraj was found in the same forest, the last fugitive of the group made of seven people.
The fugitives were Artur Gora, who was arrested a few hours after escaping, while going home. Admir Tafili, the organizer of the scheme, was caught later together with Gezim Guri and Fran Marashi. They were hiding in a depot close to the Prrenjas national road. The last ones were Gezim Toma, Eduart Lulo and Reiz Haxhiraj, who will be extradited to Albania.
After the news, the Albanian Prime Minister thanked the police officers involved in this special operation, especially the RENEA forces, and valued the cooperation with the Greek police.
