Daniel Godelli was declared weightlifting world champion for the 77
kilogram category. The 22-year-old lifted 171 kilograms in snatch with a
smaller body weight than the Chinese Zhong, who lifted the same weight.
Godelli received the golden medal in the World Championship that is
being held in Kazakhstan.
This is the first time after 42 years that Albania receives a gold medal in a World Championship style. In 1972 it was won in Germany by Ymer Pampuri during the Olympic games.
The other Albanian weightlifter in 77 kg, the European Champion, Erkand Qerimaj, was listed fifth in snatch.
