Albania’s team for Euro 2016. Salihi replaced by Rashica

Giani de Biasi has left few surprises for the last minute: only few of
the names who played during the qualification campaign will be left
outside the national team. The Italian coach read an uplifting speech
before announcing the list, which had been sent to the players first.

De Biasi has selected 27 players and said this is not the right moment to ask him about the ones he didn’t chose. “We selected the players with the best physical conditions and who can confront this activity psychologically. This activity will be unique and maybe unrepeatable for many of us”, De Biasi declared.

Salihi is staying out of the list of forwards, and has been replaced by Milot Rashica, who plays for the Dutch club, Vitesen.

Albana Meha also has not been included, while Veseli and Rrahmani are confirmed to be in. De Biasi said that Xhaka has a physical problem, but he can recover before the final matches. Memushaj will also leave the group for just one match with his club, in Pescara, Italy.

Albania will play two friendly matches with Ukraine and Qatar. The preliminary list:

Goalkeepers: Berisha, Hoxha, Shehi.

Defense: Ajeti, Aliji, Gjimishiti, Mavraj, Cana, Agolli, Rrahmani, Hysaj, Veseli.

Midfielders: Memushaj, Kaçe, Lila, Basha, Xhaka, Roshi, Kukeli, Lenjani, Shala, Abrashi.

Forward: Bala, Çikalleshi, Sadiku, Rashica, Gashi.
